Nomination Application Process

The application for the 2019 Teacher of the Year award is now closed. The application for the 2020 award will open in early spring 2019. 


A written Nomination Portfolio may come from a candidate or a nomination may be submitted by a colleague. All combined materials (excluding letters of recommendation) should not exceed 15 pages. Content beyond the 15 page limit will not be considered.

The Nomination Portfolio must include:

  • Educational History
  • Professional Development Activities
  • Professional Biography
  • Community Involvement
  • Philosophy of Teaching
  • Educational Trends and Issues of particular interest
  • Letter(s) of Support for applicant
  • Contact information for candidate (email and cell phone)

Although not required, nominators or candidates may attach additional supporting material, such as, examples of teacher’s writing, student work samples, or any other examples of how the teacher has impacted student learning.

Entire application, including supporting materials should NOT exceed 15 pages (excluding letters of recommendation). Additional pages beyond the 15 page limit will not be considered or reviewed. 

Please review the Selection Criteria. Use the Selection Criteria description as a guide for responding to each criterion. Note the points for each component of the Nomination Portfolio.

Material should be typed and double-spaced.
